Leak-Free Gasketed CGR Filter Press
In standard filter presses, a small amount of wicking or dripping from the filter cloth edges is common. But when you are handling toxic solvents, volatile chemicals, or precious metal solutions, even a single drop of leakage is unacceptable.
The Gasketed CGR Filter Press is engineered for a 100% sealed operation. “CGR” stands for Caulked, Gasketed, Recessed. This specialized plate design features O-ring seals around the perimeter and filtrate ports, ensuring that all liquid stays inside the press—where it belongs.
The "CGR" Difference
Standard plates have filter cloth draped over the sealing surface, which causes wicking. CGR plates are different:
1. Caulked Cloth: The filter cloth does not extend to the edge of the plate. Instead, it is caulked (secured) into a groove within the recess of the plate.
2. Gasketed Seal: The outer edge of the plate features a machined groove that holds an O-ring gasket (EPDM, Viton, NBR, or Silicone).
3. Recessed Chamber: When the plate pack is clamped, the O-rings compress to form a hermetic seal, preventing any liquid or gas from escaping to the atmosphere.
Why Choose CGR? Safety & Efficiency Combined
- 100% Leak-Free Operation:
- Protect your workers from hazardous fumes and toxic spills.
- Keep your factory floor clean and dry.
- No Product Loss:
- Essential for filtering high-value liquids like Gold/Silver electrolyte or Pharmaceutical ingredients. Every drop saved is money earned.
- Vacuum Capability:
- The sealed design allows for vacuum drying of the filter cake within the chambers (optional).
- Corrosion Protection:
- Since liquid never touches the outer frame or plate handles, the structural lifespan is significantly extended.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is changing the filter cloth difficult on a CGR press?
A: It takes slightly more time than a standard press because the cloth must be hammered into the groove. However, since CGR presses are usually used for batch processing of high-value products, the cloth change frequency is lower. We provide special installation tools to make it easy.
Q: Which gasket material should I choose?
A: It depends on your liquid:
- EPDM: Good for general chemicals and high temperatures.
- NBR (Nitrile): Best for oils and petroleum products.
- Viton (FKM): Excellent for strong acids and aggressive solvents.
- Silicone: For food and pharma applications.
Q: Can I convert my standard press to CGR?
A: You would need to replace the entire plate pack (plates and cloths). The frame might be reusable, but the hydraulic stroke may need adjustment. Contact us for a retrofit evaluation.
